What is Paleo?

The Paleo diet is a diet based on lean proteins, healthy fats, fruits, vegetables and basic principles that support healthy digestion. This diet removes processed foods, sugars, trans fats and processed foods – all part of our modern diet. It takes us back to an ancient way of eating when disease, obesity, and sickness did not exist. For many people, the paleo diet has helped to reverse autoimmune disease, strengthen digestion and aid in weight loss. The Paleo diet is based on the foundational principles of ancient times before we consumed grains, legumes and dairy in our everyday diet. By removing these foods, we are eliminating the known culprits, that for many cause digestive upset, depression, weight gain and inflammation.

Finally, this is all backed by scientific research regarding the benefits of the paleo diet for blood sugar balancing, infertility, hormonal health, anxiety, cardiovascular health, reduction of allergies, improved gut flora and brain health.

The Paleo diet is based on eating fruit, vegetables, fermented foods and drinks, seeds, nuts and clean protein sources such as eggs, chicken, beef, fish, seafood and lots of wonderful fats. All this sounds pretty doable, right?

I know this lifestyle back and forth, up and down. Why? Because I live it, every day! I’m 42 and I can pretty much say that I have energy of a 25 year old. For me, I went down this path for many different reasons.  Not only for myself, but for my family, friends and clients.  I don’t want to live forever, but I want to live large and feel really good while I’m here! I know we cannot control our ancestry, but we can control our relationship with food and allow it to help us heal from within. I struggled in my mid thirties with extra weight, digestive issues or leaky gut, depression, thyroid issues and food intolerances. I had had enough and decided that I needed to make some changes with my diet and lifestyle. It wasn’t easy, but it has been so worth it! Now I am in an incredible place to  share what I’ve learned and make it a whole lot easier for you! You don’t have to go thru what I did. It’s all right here in one spot for you. I’ve even begun my own food line, The Healing Kitchen  to support you even further! Less time for you in the kitchen, and totally Paleo approved!
