Thanksgiving Day Swaps

Here come the Holidays! With it is a fear of gluttony, extra weight and self loathing. NO WAY! NOT ON MY WATCH!

We are going to have a little fun and take some good ol’ traditional recipes and clean them up a bit. I am going to give you a couple to get started and then will proceed to have a contest to see who can be the most creative and clean at the same time! Are you game? I will be posting this on my facebook page,  Healthy Self, so keep an eye out to join in the fun!  If you haven’t already, please like and share my page. (Oh yeah, there just might a couple giveaways- wink, wink.)

  • I am going to start with a great little brunch recipe that you can have ready quickly and not worry about much clean up.  So instead of really heavy casserole, laden with heavy bread, you can have these lovely little dudes:

mini egg omelettes! These are sure to please the pickiest of the picky:) Don’t be afraid to get creative!

  • Next! Let’s roll with a SNACK! Instead of your normal chips and dip, how about making something that most people LOVE:

Yummy Hummus! Yep, it’s easy, quick and you can skip all of the unhealthy oils, like Soybean and Canola. If you don’t know this already, both of these are genetically modified unless Organic. Even if Soy is Organic, it is an estrogen mimicker and can have your hormones out of whack in no time. I say “No thank you!” Get your good fat with your Extra Virgin Olive Oil. (Serving with a bit of extra oil and olives gives it a nice touch:)  You can still serve with good Organic chips or have an array of fresh cut veggies. Veggie trays always go quickly!

  • How about a usual suspect at Thanksgiving Dinner, mashed potatoes. Let’s give our bodies a break and not spike our blood sugar. So what can we use that will be just as delicious? Cauliflower:) If you haven’t made these yet, do yourself a flavor! YEP, FLAVOR! Cauliflower Mash

Okay, well that’s a good start and I could go on f-o-r-e-v-e-r…
