There is nothing like making your own HOMEMADE pizza! Especially when you can feel really good about the quality of ingredients in the CRUST! I have been making crusts for a while now and think I finally nailed it:)
Whether you are Vegan, eating Paleo or Keto, this crust will fit into your meals. This is super low carb and loaded with nutrients vs. a high carb crust that is not so nutrient dense. It is a little time consuming, but totally worth it!
What you need:
- 1 head of Cauliflower
- 3 tablespoons of Coconut Flour
- 1 egg
- Italian seasoning
- Nutritional Yeast
- Sea salt and pepper to taste
Start by cutting your cauliflower in manageable chunks (2 inch pieces). Steam it using an inch of water and bring it to a boil. It will usually become tender within 10 minutes or so. Make sure to stir it to help it cook evenly. Drain and pop into your blender or food processor. Pulse it until it becomes “riced”. Use a spatula and wipe down the sides. Pour out onto a clean dish towel and spread to let it cool. Walk away and do something else for 10 minutes or so. Trust me, you will burn yourself, if not! When it’s cool, wrap up and squeeze the heck out of it in your sink. You can also use a mug to press it towards you up against the sink. Get as much liquid out as possible. I usually transfer to a new towel and squeeze one more time to make sure it is as dry as possible. From here, transfer into a mixing bowl, add your egg and fold in with a fork. Add your flour and Italian seasoning and mix with your hands into a ball. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Plae cyour dough on a piece of parchment on a pizza stone, if possible. Sheet pan will work fine, too.
Press out with finger tips until it’s the size you like. 1\4 to 1\2 inch thickness. This is when I add Nutritional Yeast for a cheesy flavor. Sprinkle a tablespoon evenly across crust and press gently. Bake for 35 minutes and flip using your parchment paper onto the stone. Bake for another 5 minutes. Pull from pizza stone and let cool slightly. Add your topping of choice and bake for another 7 to 10 minutes on 450.
